What does the Lion of Judah mean?
It's a title for Jesus in Revelation 5:5 (NIV): "See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed." The image goes back to Genesis 49, where Jacob calls his son Judah a lion's cub.
Is Jesus the Lion of Judah?
Yes. In Revelation 5, John hears that the Lion of Judah has triumphed, then turns and sees a Lamb that looks as if it had been slain. Both images point to Jesus, which is why the lion and the lamb often appear together.
